This is a framed reproduction of the collection of portraits of the officers & members of the House of Representatives for Washington Territory in 1879. It appears it is a photostat reproduction of the original collage of portraits for the officers and members of the 1879 House of Representatives. Each member's portrait is a small oval black and white portrait of about 2.5 in. (7 cm.) x 1.5 in. (4 cm.). The photostat contains 30 oval portraits with the name of each member. The photostat is framed and is about 25 in. (60 cm.) x 18 cm. (45 cm.) in overall size. Under each portrait the name has been copied over in ink by hand.

Dillis Burgess Ward (1838-1922) was one of the early pioneers of the Pacific Northwest. Born in Kentucky, he moved with his family to Arkansas in 1844, and then travelled with them across the plains to Salem, Oregon in 1853. Maud P. Mitchell was born about 1883 in Oregon. She married Chas. R. Mitchell and by 1920 they were living in Chehalis, WA. Charles was an assistant cashier at the bank.
